5. Andrew Miller, RP, New York Yankees

The Yankees will be the single most interesting team to watch at the trade deadline,as they aren’t completely out of the AL East race at 37-37, but need a lot of things to break right to make the postseason. Selling is probably the best option, as the Yankees have quite a few strong trade chips, including multiple members of their elite bullpen.

While Miller might not be as big of a recognized star as teammate Aroldis Chapman, he could be in even higher demand. With completely dominant numbers and a contract that runs through 2018, Miller could fetch the Yankees a huge haul of young talent.

The 31-year-old spent his early career as a starter with three different organizations and largely struggled. Miller converted to the bullpen full time in 2012 and has had great success since, particularly over the last two and a half seasons.

Since signing with the Yankees prior to the 2015 season, Miller has taken his game to a new level with numbers usually reserved for MLB: The Show. Miller owns a 1.10 ERA (1.11 FIP) in 32.2 innings this season with 60 strikeouts to just three walks per FanGraphs.

It’s obviously going to be difficult for the Yankees to part with such a player, but teams often overpay for relief help at the deadline, and New York has multiple holes to fill before it is ready to contend again. The Cubs are a terrific fit for the relief ace and have the pieces to make a deal happen.
