5 free agents the Atlanta Hawks should target
By Brad Weiss
4. Al Jefferson, C, Charlotte Hornets
Al Horford has already expressed that he would like to stay with the Atlanta Hawks, so the team may not be in the market for another Center. However, if Horford decides to test the free agency waters since he is a free agent for the first time in his career, the Hawks will likely look to another Al to fill that role.
Al Jefferson was once considered one of the top three centers in the National Basketball Association, and while those days may be over, he is still someone who can give you a double-double on any night. He would team well with Paul Millsap up front for Atlanta, and he will definitely come with a cheaper price tag than Horford.
At 31 years old, Jefferson can still give you solid minutes. He started only 18 games for the Hornets last season, but he recently said he would like to return to the team if they will have him. He battled injuries last season as well, so the drop in his production could be attributed to that as well as his age.
Still, the Hawks will need to fill a big role if Horford decides to bolt, and Jefferson could plug that hole if only for one season. Jefferson is a solid player, and Atlanta needs more talent on their roster.
