AL Rookie of the Year

player. 95.
Mazara’s performance would likely fade away if he was playing in the National League… but he isn’t. For me, Mazara is the clear AL ROY front-runner right now on the back of 11 home runs in 68 games, and he is the league leader in fWAR (1.4) among rookies. It certainly does not hurt Mazara’s case that the Rangers are the best team in the American League right now, but he has defied any rational expectation in year one. The ceiling is immense here.
. OF. Texas Rangers. Nomar Mazara. 1

player. 63.
Fulmer garners the nod as the best AL rookie pitcher this season. The 23-year-old left his last start early as a result of some dizziness, but Fulmer has done enough in 63.2 innings to merit inclusion. In his 11 starts, he boasts a 2.40 ERA, and with nearly a strikeout per inning, Fulmer has the stuff to keep his production at something approaching this level.
. SP. Detroit Tigers.
