player. 9.
The Cubs are the class of the National League, and Bryant is the team’s flagship position player. That alone isn’t enough to secure a legitimate MLB award push, but Bryant has been more than good enough to justify this selection. The 24-year-old sits in a three-way tie for the NL lead in home runs with 21, and he leads the league in fWAR (3.9) while finishing second in bWAR (3.6). Bryant’s .367 OBP leaves something to be desired, but the power is real and his positional versatility aids Chicago in a big way.
. 3B/OF. Chicago Cubs. Kris Bryant. 1

8.
It has been a disastrous 2016 campaign in Arizona, but that isn’t the fault of Paul Goldschmidt. The slugging first baseman leads the NL in on-base percentage (.436) to go along with 14 home runs and 10 stolen bases, and this isn’t a fluke. Goldschmidt is one of the best hitters in baseball, and while other players (Anthony Rizzo, Matt Carpenter, etc.) are in the mix here, he has done enough to warrant a mention.
. 1B.
