5 reasons Andrew Luck extension was a good move
2.The roster cannot win without him
Aside from Luck, the Colts do not have that great of a football team. While Luck struggled last year, and Matt Hasselbeck gave the Colts a better record in his starts, this team cannot go anywhere without Luck. The Colts wins without Luck were against the Houston Texans during the Ryan Mallett era, the Falcons, Buccaneers, Dolphins and Titans. It is tough to say that any of those would have been losses with Luck at the helm.
The big problem is that Luck is playing on an average team, and has the expectations to make them great. Luck has been playing with a bottom level offensive line since his emergence in the league and has just started to find playmakers around him. This is without the mention of the defense, that sometimes has felt neglected in the roster building since Luck was drafted.
Since Luck has been drafted, the Colts have had 29 draft picks. Only seven of those have turned into starters for the team. Three on that list are Clayton Geathers, Denzelle Good, and David Parry. They have not made the most of their assets, and should be looking at Luck as a gift. Why would they not try to retain one of the only things that have gone right for this franchise in the past five years at any cost?
