NBA free agency 2016: 5 targets for Bulls
1. Mike Conley
If the Chicago Bulls are going to swing for the fences in 2016 NBA free agency, my vote goes that they do so by going after Mike Conley. When you look at what the Bulls are moving on from in Rose and the way that they want to build this team moving forward with Jimmy Butler as the focal point of everything that they do, a veteran star like Conley joining Butler in the backcourt could be highly intriguing.
When you think about it, Conley could truly be the perfect fit for the Bulls considering what he brings to the table. For one, he’s a point guard that is capable of doing whatever he’s asked to do at a high level. If he needs to lead the offense for a time and be a scorer dominating the ball, he’s skilled enough to do so. If he needs to facilitate the offense and let Butler lead the charge, that’s in his abilities as well. Perhaps the most important, though, he and Butler could wreak absolute havoc as a defensive backcourt.
Obviously targeting and/or signing Conley would handcuff the Bulls in free agency otherwise, but it would be such a big move that it could be 100 percent worth it to put themselves in that position. It would be a home run, but Conley is a player worth swinging like that for in free agency for the Bulls.
