Catcher

High-Salary Option: Buster Posey-San Francisco Giants (4,300): If you’ve got the salary, Posey remains the best option behind the plate after hitting .391 (9-23) over the last week and .318 (28-88) so far in June.  He went 3-4 with a double last night from the DH spot, and he’ll be in the lineup again tonight against the A’s and lefty Dillon Overton.  Posey has a .904 OPS this season against lefties, and is a great play if you need production from the sometimes uncertain position of catcher.∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Victor Martinez-Detroit Tigers (3,200): V-Mart has collected multiple hits in three straight games going 6-13 with four runs, four RBI, and a pair of homers.  He seems to be over his knee issue from the middle of the month, and he should be in the heart of the order as the Tigers take on Tampa tonight.∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Willson Contreras-Chicago Cubs(3,100): Contreras continues to be a staple for the Cubs in the middle of their lineup and is 12-36 (.333) since his callup with three homers, ten RBI, five walks, and six runs scored.  Chicago has started him at 1B and in the outfield to keep his bat in the lineup, and he’ll be in a good position to produce again tonight as the Cubs take on Stephen Matz and the Mets.∗∗

High-Value Option: Russell Martin-Toronto Blue Jays (2,600): Martin got the day off on Wednesday after going 3-5 on Tuesday with an RBI, three runs scored, and a walk.  He raised his average for the season to .218 but has been a promising .266 so far in June. His splits indicate he’s much better at home (.256 average, .702 OPS) than on the road (.190 average, .585 OPS), so give him a look if you have to go cheap even though he’ll be in a tough matchup against Carlos Carrasco and the red-hot Indians.

Bargain Basement Bonus: Jarrod Saltalamacchia-Detroit Tigers (2,100): Salty has started four games over the past week and went 3-3 yesterday with his eighth homer of the season.  He is still hitting just .206, but if he gets the nod in Tampa he could be a good bargain.
