FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-June 30
Second Baseman
High-Salary Option: Robinson Cano-Seattle Mariners (4,100): Cano is definitely the way to go tonight if you have salary to spend on a 2B. He has gone 10-25 (.400) over eh last week and is hitting .330 with four homers and nine RBI so far this month.
Cano has hit safely in six straight games and is playing up to the big contract he signed with Seattle. He is 14-34 (.412) against Orioles’ scheduled starter Chris Tillman in his career and has a pair of homers and eight RBI against him with a 1.077 OPS.∗∗∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Jonathan Schoop-Baltimore Orioles (3,800): Schoop has emerged as one of my go-to options as a midrange 2B and has been heating it up lately while putting together an impressive 11-game hitting streak.
He is 38-104 (.365) so far this month with five homers, 18 RBI, and 25 runs scored. He has been even hotter lately going 12-26 (.462) this week with multiple hits in four of his last five games including at least one extra-base hit. The Orioles have been a great lineup to stack lately, and Schoop is a huge part of their production hitting in the #2 spot. ∗∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Whit Merrifield-Kansas City Royals (3,300): Merrifield got the day off yesterday, but he’ll likely return tonight against the Cardinals as the Royals take on Mike Leake. Merrifield has been a huge boost to KC and enters tonight hitting .314 on the year with two homers, 14 RBI, and four stolen bases. He usually hits at the top of the order which adds to his value when the Royals lineup is producing plenty of runs.∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Devon Travis-Toronto Blue Jays (2,900): Travis has hit safely in nine of his last ten games with six multi-hit games over that timespan. He has gone 11-26 (.423) over the last week and has hit three homers in his last nine contests. It’s not an easy matchup for him tonight against the Indians, but I think he’s a good value at this price.∗∗∗
High Value Option: Ramiro Pena-San Francisco Giants (2,200): If you go cheap at 2B tonight, Pena is probably the way to go since he’ll likely get the nod against lefty Dillon Overton. Pena has multiple hits in six of his last seven starts and is 14-35 (.400) this month while filling in at multiple spots in the Giants’ injury-riddled infield.∗∗∗
