12. Josh Reddick to the Chicago White Sox

By adding Shields earlier in June, the White Sox acknowledged that they were going all-in for the short term. While Chicago has faded from the AL Central race recently, it is still in play for the Wild Card and will likely buy more prior to the deadline.

One area where the White Sox need help is right field, a position where there happens to be a few players available. Avisail Garcia has been below average with the bat and poor in the field for four consecutive years, and J.B. Shuck doesn’t hit nearly well enough to justify playing every day.

Reddick could end up being Chicago’s top option, as he is much more affordable than many of the other corner outfielders on the market. The Oakland Athletics are well out of contention and likely won’t be able to re-sign Reddick in a weak free agent class, so selling him makes sense for the club.

The 29-year-old got off to one of his best starts in years this season, posting a 131 wRC+ through 41 games according to FanGraphs. Like so many other Athletics this year, Reddick suffered an injury at a bad time, as he missed over a month with a broken thumb near the end of may.

Reddick was activated on Tuesday, and will now need to show he’s completely healthy to regenerate value. If Reddick keeps up his early season form, he could be a great option for the White Sox, and wouldn’t carry a huge cost.
