11. Kole Calhoun to the Cleveland Indians

With 11 consecutive victories, the Indians have emerged as the class of the AL Central, and have loftier goals in mind. The rotation pieces are there for Cleveland to make a deep postseason run, but it will need to add to the offense prior to the trade deadline.

Cleveland’s has a couple of needs at the deadline, including the bullpen and catcher, but the corner outfield will likely be the easiest to address. Michael Brantley’s prolonged injury and Marlon Byrd’s suspension have left the depth chart thin at the position, as the Indians have been forced to turn to multiple unproven options.

Adding a corner outfielder would let Cleveland play Jose Ramirez a little more at third base in place of the light hitting Juan Uribe, while also providing a contingency plan should Lonnie Chisenhall or rookie Tyler Naquin regress. Of the multiple options available, Calhoun is the best fit for the Indians.

A late bloomer, the 28-year-old Calhoun was solid in his first full two years with a combined 7.5 WAR between 2014 and 2015 per FanGraphs. So far this season, Calhoun is approaching the best offensive marks of his career with a 122 wRC+ through 331 plate appearances.

The Los Angeles Angels need to blow things up to bolster their bottom-ranked farm system, and Calhoun is perhaps their only tradeable player who could return a package of good prospects. Calhoun will also just be entering arbitration next season and could make sense for a Cleveland team that usually doesn’t like to add too much payroll.
