5. Harrison Barnes

If the Warriors re-sign Harrison Barnes in free agency, it’s because they couldn’t land a top free agent and/or decided giving him a lot of money would be beneficial if he continues to get better as a player in this league.

It’s hard to see a scenario right now where the Warriors bring Barnes back on a max deal, but it’s a certainly potential scenario that could end up happening. He already knows the system and though he’s been inconsistent, when he’s on, the Warriors don’t lose games.

Part of the inconsistency can be attributed to his age, but he has flashed the potential of being a very good player in this league. If there is any downside to Barnes right now, it’s his performance in the NBA Finals.

If Barnes even puts together one good performance in one of those losses, it’s likely the Warriors win their second-straight NBA Championship. Still, you can count on him to get better and the team that pays him $127 million is hoping he gets a lot better.

They have the ability to match any offer any team gives him, so it makes re-signing him a lot easier than signing a top unrestricted free agent.
