Sacramento Kings: Build around Boogie
The correct answer here is probably “prayer”.
The Kings are perhaps the most maddening franchise in the entire NBA, and they are generally laughed out of the room when discussing any sort of stability in the league. Sacramento routinely does the unthinkable in the worst possible way, and in terms of roster construction, it isn’t clear that anyone knows what is happening with the Kings right now.
On the bright side, the Kings do employ DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins is perhaps the most talented center in the entire league, and that is evidenced by the fact that he holds three-year averages of 24.5 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. Those numbers are off the charts when compared to the majority of his contemporaries, and at the age of 25, there is reason to believe that Cousins can keep that up for a few more seasons.
Of course, he is something of a challenge (to put it lightly) off the court. Cousins has been rumored to be on the move several times, in addition to being linked to multiple coach firings in Sacramento. Can he be the focal point of a title team? The jury is very much out, but he is the best hope for the Kings… and they know it.
