Toronto Raptors: Fix the power forward issue

For better or worse, the Toronto Raptors were two wins shy of reaching the 2016 NBA Finals.

Read that sentence again.

The Raptors certainly have flaws as currently constructed, and given that Bismack Biyombo is set to make approximately all of the money in the world, Toronto may not have exactly the same roster in 2016-2017. Still, Masai Ujiri has put together a very strong group, and with most assuming that DeMar DeRozan will be back with rookie Jakob Poeltl taking over Biyombo’s role, there is real to be optimistic.

With that said, Toronto needs an upgrade at power forward in the worst way.

The Raptors do have a capable player in Patrick Patterson, but he is perhaps better suited as a backup and the cupboard is relatively bare after that. Toronto could jump in the market for a player like Al Horford, but even if they swing and miss there (as most would predict), the Raptors must grab someone who can flank Jonas Valanciunas as a capable partner in the short-term.

Toronto is as close as anyone can claim in the Eastern Conference, but there is a gap between the Cavs and the Raptors. This could help to bridge that.
