Denver Nuggets: Be patient
Don’t look now, but the Denver Nuggets have a stockpile of young talent. You probably don’t recognize every member of Denver’s young and aspiring core, but trust me, it’s there.
Nikola Jokic was the second-best rookie in the NBA this season, trailing only the ridiculous Karl-Anthony Towns, and he is a young big man locked up for the foreseeable future. Denver also has a strong young point guard in Emmanuel Mudiay, a young “3-and-D” option in Gary Harris, and quality veterans in the form of Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried.
On cue, the Nuggets added a potential stud in Jamal Murray via the draft, with sharp-shooter Malik Beasley later in the first round. For good measure, Denver also has a talented rotation big in Jusuf Nurkic and a legitimate 6MOY candidate in Will Barton.
I hear you saying that the Nuggets aren’t challenging for an NBA title with this roster, and that is fair. Still, Denver should sit tight, let their young guys develop and potentially sell high on veterans who aren’t on the same timeline. The future is obscenely bright for the Nuggets, and moving too quickly could throw a wrench in otherwise fantastic progress.
