Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz just missed the playoffs this past season. Injuries to Rudy Golbert and Derrick Favors didn’t help, but at this point, the Gordon Hayward, Favors, and Gobert should be competing. I expect this season will be different than the three previous, health will go a long way. But the Jazz have already filled their biggest need by trading their draft pick for George Hill, a two-way player that can make this team one of the best defensive units in the league.

That’s why, between Hayward, Favors, Gobert, Hill, and Alec Burks, it’s hard to see why this team needs to make any more moves to compete. They just have to kind of… do it. They do have about $24 million in cap space to bring in another player, but I think just so many questions already need to be answered about their ability to play together and stay healthy that adding another big name free agent to the mix would be a mistake at this point in the season. Holding onto that cap space for an even more lucrative free agent market in 2017 isn’t a bad idea, and by then a lot of the uncertainty on if this team can stay healthy and compete will be answered by then. Until proven otherwise, however, this team doesn’t have many spots to fill and is ready to make a big leap in 2016-17.
