For an NBA owner that is the star of a reality TV show based on the art of making a deal, Mark Cuban does not have many big free agent signings to show for it. In the past few season’s he’s struck out on Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan, and failed to capitalize on their 2011 NBA Championship and what remains of Dirk Nowitzki’s prime.

That’s the problem for the Mavericks, Nowitzki is too good to let this team tank, but they can’t get the pieces to build a title contender. So what can Mark Cuban do differently this year? Go full shark tank and sign Superman.

Dwight Howard eluded Cuban once, but this time, he has the wine-and-dine assistant of Howard’s friend Chandler Parsons (who, yes, he’ll also need to re-sign). And I can guarantee that the Rockets and James Harden won’t be sleeping over at Howard’s house anytime soon. Howard is looking for a fresh start and a location where he can go to work for a championship on day one. Pairing Howard next to the aging Nowitzki and Parsons would be the perfect swan song for Dirk in Dallas, and make the relevant in a difficult Western Conference.
