Come on. It’s home. Everybody gets that itch to return home at some point in their life, and in Durant’s case he’ll get to be a franchise hero while he does it. DC sports are so depressing and nobody there seems to actually like any of their sports teams. Durant returning home will be a nice breath of fresh air in a city that should really see more success than they currently do, and of course he’ll get all the nice storylines that go with it. Look at what’s happened with LeBron the last two years he’s been in Cleveland. An entire city worships him like a demigod, and he’s got a commercial about putting that work in for “The Land” every week.

Durant will be able to take that entire business model and run with it. He also gets to play with John Wall and his former coach Scott Brooks. Everything about the Wizards has been designed to fit Durant, and now he’ll be able to take advantage of that design to fit his needs. The team is solid, and with Durant on it they’ll be able to challenge the top teams in the East by the end of the year. Nobody knows how to use Durant better than Brooks, and Wall will get the ball just where he needs it to be. Sometimes the temptation to return home is too strong.
