Second Baseman

High-Salary Option: Jose Altuve-Houston Rockets (4,300): Altuve has hit in 11 straight and been on base in 32 straight games.  He has gone 50-116 (.431) over his last 29 games and produces good fantasy points almost every night.  Altuve is 2-11 in his career against tonight’s starter for Chicago Miguel Gonzalez, but I still think he’s hot enough to get in your lineup even though he costs over 4K. ∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Robinson Cano-Seattle Mariners (3,800): Cano went 1-3 with a walk and two runs scored last night against the O’s and will face Kevin Gausman tonight.  Even though Gausman is a lefty like Cano, Robinson has gone 5-9 against him in his career with a triple and two RBI.  Cano has put together two great months in a row in May and June and is now hitting .306 on the season with a healthy .908 OPS. Even in a lefty-lefty matchup, give Cano a good look as a nice option under 4K tonight. ∗∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Ian Kinsler-Detroit Tigers (3,600): Kinsler is a surprisingly affordable option against the Rays tonight as he faces Drew Smyly. The Tigers’ 2B usually hits atop their lineup and enters play tonight with 14 homers, 49 RBI, and a healthy .840 OPS.  He has a good career history against Smyly as well having gone 5-13 (.385) including a home run. I’m surprised he’s this affordable, but if you’re looking for a midrange option he’s a bit of a steal given his power potential and position at the top of a pretty potent lineup.

Mid-Range Option: Brian Dozier-Minnesota Twins (3,100): Dozier is another great buy in the mid-range at 2B as he brings his 11-game hitting streak to tonight’s game against the Rangers.  Dozier has gone 11-22 (.500) over the last week while hitting an impressive five home runs.  He has raised his average all the way up to .264 after a .191 April and .215 May.  He also feasts on left-handed pitching having gone 19-56 (.339) against lefties this season with an OPS of 1.153.∗∗∗∗∗

High Value Option: Chase d’Arnaud-Atlanta Braves (2,400): If you go cheap at 2B tonight, d’Araund is an option to consider after he went 2-5 yesterday with a double and a pair of RBI to go with a stolen base on his way to 25.2 fantasy points. He has seen a reduction in playing time lately, but he has hit lefties well (18-60, .300) so could find his way into the lineup again tonight against Justin Nicolino.
