Third Baseman

High-Salary Option: Manny Machado-Baltimore Orioles (3,700):  Machado had two more hits last night and now has multiple hits in eight of his last nine games dating back to before his suspension.  He finished June 37-100 (.370) with five homers and 21 RBI with an impressive .996 OPS.  He has an even better OPS against lefties coming into tonight 25-71 (.352) against southpaws with a 1.066 OPS.  He’ll take on a lefty tonight as he and the Orioles look to keep machine against Wade LeBlanc. ∗∗∗∗

High-Salary Option: Adrian Beltre-Texas Rangers (3,700):  Beltre has hit safely in nine straight games, and is worth a look tonight even though he hasn’t been as consistent all season as Machado has been.  Beltre does have history on his side tonight, though, as he faces Ervin Santana of the Twins.  In his career, Beltre is 15-60 against Santana (.250) but five of those 15 hits have been home runs and he has driving in 15 runs against the veteran right-hander . ∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Todd Frazier-Chicago White Sox (3,300): Frazier was mired in a horrible slump for much of June, but he has shown signs of turning things around including hitting four homers in his last nine games.  He now has 23 long-balls on the season and will look to add to that total tonight against Mike Fiers of the Astros.  Frazier is 5-18 (.278) against in the past with a pair of homers and four RBI.∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Jhonny Peralta-St. Louis Cardinals (3,000): Peralta has multiple hits in each of his last two games and connected on his third homer of the season yesterday against the Royals.  Tonight, he’s one of my favorite plays since he has always hit Matt Garza well coming into tonight an impressive 17-37 (.459) with two homers and five RBI resulting in a 1.149 OPS. He usually steps up against the Brew Crew, so look for Peralta to deliver tonight.∗∗∗

High-Value Option: Conor Gillaspie-San Francisco Giants (2,500)Gillaspie has been pressed into service on a regular basis with all the injuries the Giants have sustained in the infield.  He didn’t start yesterday, but he has hit safely in each of his last four starts and is 8-22 (.364) over the last week.  He is a nice cheap option as the Giants take on righty Shelby Miller tonight in the desert.∗∗
