NBA Free Agency 2016: 5 targets for Celtics
5. Mirza Teletovic
The Boston Celtics undoubtedly need to make a splash this offseason when they go into 2016 NBA free agency and have the flexibility for a sign-and-trade and so on to do just that. However, they could also use some key mid-to-low level moves to really bolster up their rotation from top to bottom. A player that should definitely be at the forefront of that discussion when it comes to free agency targets is Phoenix Suns forward Mirza Teletovic.
Teletovic has long been an underrated player since first coming to the league with the Brooklyn Nets. While he was once just a streaky shooter (and by that I mean that dude can get really hot from deep) with value on the offensive end of the floor, Teletovic has become a more consistent offensive player with improved team defense—and he can still get stupid hot from long range on occasion and carry a team’s offense for stretches.
Despite the weird combination of bigs that the Celtics have currently, they don’t have a forward with the skill set of Teletovic, not even Kelly Olynyk offers the length and overall shooting ability to stretch the floor that Teletovic does. Moreover, Teletovic should be a player that could be signed with a wholly manageable contract his offseason and that’s a movie that would ultimately be beneficial to the Celtics.
