3. Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies recent success of reaching the postseason in six consecutive seasons, even advancing to the Western Conference Finals in 2013, is most likely coming to an abrupt end as the core roster continues to age and their window of opportunity seems to be closing at a rapid rate.

Additionally, unrestricted free agent point guard Mike Conely could potentially depart this summer, leaving only Xavier Munford and newly drafted Wade Baldwin on the roster. In an attempt to squeeze one more year out of the current core of Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, and Tony Allen, Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace may look to be uncharacteristically aggressive in free agency.

However, signing Rondo, a player who has displayed highly questionable behavior in the past, would not be a completely out of character move. At one point last season, the Grizzlies had Zach Randolph, Lance Stephenson, Chris Anderson, and Matt Barnes on a single roster.

Aside from constructed a certified “goon squad”, the best reason to acquire Rondo is the offensive force he and Gasol can create together. Much like the success he had with center DeMarcus Cousins working the pick-and-roll in Sacramento, Rondo could help Gasol return to the first-team All NBA player he was in 2015.

And it is pretty evident that Rondo does not bluff.
