NHL Free Agency Rumors: David Perron reunited with St. Louis Blues
By David Rouben
David Perron has returned to familiar stomping grounds by signing with the St. Louis Blues on a two-year deal.
The St. Louis Blues thought they had a real blue-chip prospect when they first drafted David Perron. He showed lots of potential in the World Juniors and the QMJHL, and would spend his first six seasons in St. Louis. He was a serviceable top six forward, but he never cracked more than 50 points in a season, and he got traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2013-14.
After bouncing around the league for the better part of two seasons, Perron is once again back with the St. Louis Blues, as Bob McKenzie reports that he’s signed a two-year deal with an average value of $3.75 million:
The Blues are a very deep offensive team, and they have a great mix of young talent and veterans. At 28 years old, Perron is now one of the older guys on the Blues roster, and his teammates from when he was still playing there love him.
This is a great flyer that the Blues have taken, and even if he won’t necessarily be a top six forward, he’ll still be outstanding in the dressing room, and further the development of players like Robby Fabbri and Ivan Barbashev. The Blues are certainly excited to have him back.
