Winner: Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz were in a great spot coming into free agency this year. The team already boasted a deep of roster of young talent and the Jazz made a tremendous move before the draft when they acquired point guard George Hill.

It looked like they were quiet for the most part on Friday, but then they signed Joe Johnson to a two-year deal and suddenly, the Jazz have one of the most complete rosters in the league. The Jazz didn’t need to chase any big free agents, because they will have many of their own to take care of soon.

What they needed to do was sign effective free agents that can round out the roster and propel them to a spot in the playoffs. They did just that with their two additions to the roster thus far and outside of maybe a center that can shoot the ball a little bit, the Jazz should be set for the regular season with a young roster that is ready to do big things.

The Jazz have taken tremendous strides over the last couple of years and with young players guided by veterans ready to take the next step, it won’t be long until the Jazz are considered one of the elite teams in the Western Conference.

They’re one of the clear winners from the first day.
