NBA Free Agency 2016: Power Ranking Day 1 signings
By Mark Gunnels
This is without question the best bargain from day of the free agency period.
As you’ve seen, the numbers for some of these guys have been mind-blowing to say the least, but an up and coming guard like Jordan Clarkson ‘only’ signed for $50 million over four years?
Yes, when saying $50 million, it’s definitely tongue in cheek, but the way money has been thrown around, you’d think a guy with the production and upside of Clarkson would’ve received more respect on the open market.
During his rookie season, Clarkson averaged nearly 12 points in only 25 minutes of action. This past season, Clarkson averaged 15.5 points, 4 rebounds and 2.4 dimes per game.
Keep in mind, Clarkson is only 24-years-old, so there’s no telling how much more productive and better he may become over the years.
Also, not to mention, Clarkson was putting up these number with Kobe, who was known for stopping the ball and hoisting up terrible shots.
With Kobe out of the picture, it’s a prime opportunity for Clarkson to fully unleash, which in-return will look like an absolute steal for the Lakers front office at the cheap price they re-signed him for.
If Clarkson does ball out during this contract, you better believe he won’t get played in negotiations again.
