4. He’s given Miami everything

Unlike a free agent that never delivered a championship to his team and bolted for another in free agency, Dwayne Wade doesn’t have to worry about negative press if he was ever to leave the Miami Heat.

He has given the Heat 13 seasons of his career in the league and he has helped bring them three NBA Championships, along with five trips to the NBA Finals. There might not be an athlete more beloved than Wade in the city’s history — and they had Dan Marino, which is saying something.

He’s given every bit of energy he has on the floor for them and has persevered through many injuries that he has suffered as a result of the game taking a toll on his body. He’s more than delivered and even if he were to leave, he would forever remain a legend in the area.

Like Dirk Nowitzki in Dallas, Wade has earned the right to see what’s out there and maybe chase a championship in the final years of his career with someone else.

Everyone likes to see a player play their whole career with just one team, but sometimes it’s better to let them go and compete somewhere else after they have done their part for their city.

Wade has done his part.
