Catcher

High-Salary Option: Buster Posey-San Francisco Giants (3,300): Posey has hit safely in nine of his last ten games with at least 12 fantasy points in five of his last six.  He homered yesterday against the Rockies and is 9-23 (.391) over the last week with a pair of long balls and four RBI.  Posey is just 2-14 against tonight’s starter Tyler Chatwood, but I think he’s in good enough current form to still give a long look tonight.∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Jonathan Lucroy-Milwaukee Brewers (3,200): Lucroy and the rest of the Brewers were shut down yesterday by Stephen Strasburg, but I think he’ll bounce back tonight to get his average back to .300.  Lucroy is hitting .296 after his 0-4 yesterday, but he is 6-10 (.600) in his career against tonight’s starter Gio Gonzalez with a double and three RBI.  Lucroy is a solid midrange play tonight based on his matchup even though most of his offense has come at Miller Park.∗∗

Mid-range Option: Cameron Rupp-Philadelphia Phillies (2,700): Rupp has hit safely in ten straight games for the Phils and has at least nine fantasy points in each of his last nine games with over 12 fantasy points in seven of those contests. Rump has raised his average on the year to .289 with his recent streak and has a solid .837 OPS.  His OPS is even better at Citizens Bank Park (.987) where he’ll take on the Braves and Mike Foltynewicz tonight.∗∗∗∗

High-Value Option: Chris Iannetta-Seattle Mariners (2,500)The Mariners backstop has collected a hit in each of his last three games, but the main reason I like him tonight is that he is 6-20 (.300) against Houston starter Dallas Keuchel with three doubles, two RBI, and six walks.  Iannetta is a good value play tonight if he’s in the lineup against the lefty again tonight.∗∗

High-Value Option: Travis d’Arnaud-New York Mets (2,200)If you really want to go cheap at catcher, check out the Mets’ d’Arnaud who has collected mutiple hits in three of his last four games and four of his last six starts.  After a lengthy run on the DL, he’s just starting to rediscover his stroke, but he has raised his average from .170 to .268 over the last ten games showing he’s trending the right direction.  Tonight, he’ll likely start against lefty Wei-yin Chen who he hasn’t faced in his career.  This year he is just 2-8 against southpaws, but last year he show more pop when facing left-handed pitchers.∗∗
