Second Baseman

High-Salary Option: Jonathan Schoop-Baltimore Orioles (3,800): The O’s have dropped five straight on their West Coast swing, but the trip hasn’t done much to cool off Jonathan Schoop’s bat.  Schoop has hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games.  He finished June with a 1.009 OPS and has gone 6-17 (.353 with a .765 OPS) so far in the early stages of July.  Tonight, he and the O’s face Kenta Maeda in the late game as they look to get back into the win column. ∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Jose Altuve-Houston Astros (3,600): Altuve is surprisingly affordable tonight as he and the Astros host the Mariners.  Altuve is 10-24 (.417) over the last week with a double, triple, home run, and four RBI.  He went 2-4 in the Astros’ 2-1 win yesterday and has multiple hits in six of his last nine contests.

Tonight, he and the ‘Stros face Taijuan Walker of the Mariners.  Altuve is 8-23 (.348) against Walker in his career with a homer and three RBI.  He has crushed Seattle all season coming into tonight 13-28 against the Mariners with a pair of homers and a 1.352 OPS. ∗∗∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Ian Kinsler-Detroit Tigers (3,400): Kinsler is another under-priced 2B option tonight as he faces Carlos Carrasco.  It’s not a good matchup, but Kinsler has been able to produce at least 16 fantasy points in four of his last six games, so he is hot enough to roll with tonight if you can’t afford Altuve.

High Value Option: Devon Travis-Toronto Blue Jays (2,700): Travis has usually been hitting out of the #2-slot in the Blue Jays lineup and offers some speed and pop which can result in good nights when the lineup is producing like I think it will tonight against Chris Young.  Travis has at least nine fantasy points in each of his last three games and is six of his last nine.  He should be a nice sub-3K play tonight especially if he hits second again.
