Third Baseman

High-Salary Option: Josh Donaldson-Toronto Blue Jays (4,700):  Donaldson has gone a cool 12-30 (.400) over the last week and 7-17 (.412) since the calendar flipped to July.  He has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 contests and has at least nine fantasy points in each of his last eight (even the game he went 0-6 in).  Donaldson is in a great matchup against Chris Young who the Jays should pummel tonight and  Donaldson is overdue against him since he is somehow just 1-16 against Young in his career.  While that definitely does increase the risk in playing Donaldson, he’s too hot to ignore even at almost 5K if you have the salary cap space. ∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Maikel Franco-Philadelphia Phillies (3,300)Franco isn’t as well-known yet as Donaldson but he has been almost just as hot lately.  Franco is 10-24 (.417) over the last week and 8-15 (.533) so far in July.  He has homered in each of his last two games and now has 15 long balls on the year to go with a on-the-rise .258 batting average and .775 OPS. I actually like Franco’s matchup against Mike Foltynewicz tonight, and at his price he has to do less than Donaldson to be worth the investment. Franco is 7-26 against Atlanta this year with a pair of homers and six RBI.∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Justin Turner-Los Angeles Dodgers (3,100): Turner took the collar last night going 0-3 with an RBI.  He had hit safely in six of his previous seven games, though with at least 12 fantasy points in five of those contests.  Tonight, he and the Dodgers take on Chris Tillman and the O’s. Turner hasn’t ever faced Tillman before, but he’s hitting well enough to be a solid play tonight. ∗∗

High-Value Option: Adrian Beltre-Texas Rangers (2,600)The Rangers crushed David Price two starts ago, and they’ll take on the Boston lefty again tonight at Fenway.  While Beltre is cheaper due to the matchup, he has been hitting very well lately coming off a 3-5 day yesterday.  He had 18.7 fantasy points in that contest and has over 13 fantasy points in six of his last ten.

Beltre has always hit Price well and comes into tonight 11-35 (.314) against hime with four doubles, two homers, and six RBI. Beltre also enjoys hitting at Fenway Park against his former team, so look for a solid game from him tonight allowing you to take advantage of his affordable price.∗∗

High-Value Option: Yangervis Solarte-San Diego Padres (2,600): If you don’t want to mess with David Price tonight, another option would be to go with Padres’ 3B Yangervis Solarte.  Solarte has hit safely in nine of his last ten games raising his average from .255 to .299. He has gone 7-14 over his first three games of July with a pair of home runs in his last two games.  His OPS is 1.057 away from Petco Park  and a crazy 1.507 against the D-Backs this season.  Half of his six homers on the season have come at Chase Field where he’ll look to terrorize the Diamondbacks again tonight as they start the recently recalled Zach Godley. ∗∗∗∗

Bonus Bargain Basement Option: Jefry Marte-Los Angeles Angels (2,200): Marte went yard yesterday in Tampa for his fifth homer of the season.  He finished 1-2 with two runs scored and 24.9 fantasy points. He has been sharing time in the outfield with Daniel Nava, but he brings a little more pop which makes him the favorite to get more playing time going forward.
