High Value OF

Melky Cabrera-Chicago White Sox (3,100): Cabrera has gone 3-8 in the series against his former team the Yankees after missing about a week with a wrist injury.  He has been trending in the right direction after a slow start and coming off a solid month in June when he went 26-81 (.321) with four homers and an impressive .926 OPS.  Cabrera is a solid play as long as he gets the start again tonight.

Charlie Blackmon-Colorado Rockies (2,900): Blackmon is extremely affordable based on his matchup against Johnny Cueto tonight, but I think he’s worth a look at this rate.  Blackmon has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games with nine multi-hit performances during that stretch.  He went 2-5 last night after being added to the lineup late against lefty Madison Bumgarner.  Blackmon won’t back down from today’s matchup either since he is 6-19 (.316) with a double in his career against Cueto.  He isn’t at Coors Field where his value usually comes, but he is still hitting .289 with a .814 OPS away from elevation which are nice numbers to grab for a leadoff hitter at under 3K. ∗∗

Alex Gordon-Kansas City Royals (2,800): Another  lefty leadoff hitter at an affordable price tonight is Alex Gordon of the Royals.  Gordon has struggled a bit since returning from the DL since he’s gone just 8-41.  However, he’s still hitting leadoff in a powerful lineup, and the Royals need him to get it going tonight against Marcus Stroman. ∗∗

Brock Holt-Boston Red Sox (2,700): Holt has at least 12 fantasy points in each of his four games since returning from the DL.  The only precaution here is that he is facing a lefty tonight in Martin Perez and sometimes Manager John Farrell leaves him out of the lineup even though he actually splits fine against them over his career.  Holt is 6-17 (.353) since coming back with three doubles and a homer, and I like him as a value if he gets the start tonight. (if starting)-∗∗

Steven Souza Jr.-Tampa Bay Rays (2,500): Souza was pulled early for lack of hustle last night against the Angles but did go 2-2 with a triple, RBI, run scored, and stolen base for 24.7 fantasy points before departing.  He is still available at a reduced price since he recently came off the DL, but he has gone 5-12 (.417) since returning and has a good career history against Jere Weaver (2-7, HR) who he’ll face if he returns to the lineup tonight. ∗∗

Mac Williamson-San Francisco Giants (2,000): If you go with a cheap flier at one of your OF spots, one to look for is Mac Williamson who normally starts for San Francisco against lefties.  On the season he is 8-36 (.222) against southpaws with there homes and seven RBI buoying his OPS to .789.  He started last night in an emergency situation for the ailing Gregor Blanco. He ended up 1-3 with a walk and an RBI for 9.5 fantasy points. He has never faced tonight’s starting southpaw Jorge De La Rosa, but don’t be surprised if Williamson gets another start in the Giants’ OF and gets some production despite his minimum 2K pricing. ∗∗
