FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 6
High Value SP
Mike Fiers-Houston Astros (7,700): The Astros have gotten pretty solid outings from Fiers lately who has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his last four starts. He has improved his record to 6-3 with three wins in those starts while lowering his ERA to 4.12.
Fiers doesn’t strike out a ton of batters, but he can get about a K per inning when he’s going good. Tonight, he’ll face the Mariners for the first time this season as he takes the mound in Houston. On the year, he’s 5-2 with a 2.87 ERA at home (compared to 1-1, 5.94 ERA on the road), so give him a look against Seattle if you are spending under 8K. ∗∗∗
Marcus Stroman-Toronto Blue Jays (7,100): Stroman got knocked around for most of May and June, but he showed some positive signs in his last outing when he held the then-red-hot Indians to just one run on five hits in 6.2 innings. He struck out six in that start as well and lowered his ERA to 5.08 while getting a no-decision. He’ll face another tough lineup tonight as the Jays host the World Champion Royals, but he could be starting to rediscover his form which makes him a boom or bust play tonight. ∗∗
Colin Rea-San Diego Padres (5,800): Rea is another high-risk play for tonight that costs a much lower number as he and the Padres take on the D-Backs in Arizona. Rea has won each of his last two outings and looked good last Friday allowing just one run on four hits to the Yankees at Petco Park. He struck out five that game given him at least five K’s in four of his last five starts. He has yet to face his division-rivals from Arizona in his career, but his three quality starts in his last five appearances ad a solid strikeout rate gives him upside that makes him worth a gamble since he’ll allow you to stock your lineup with plenty of big bats. ∗∗∗∗
