FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 6
Catcher
High-Salary Option: Brian McCann-New York Yankees (3,800): McCann leads the way behind the plate since he comes into tonight 4-14 against Miguel Gonzalez who will start for the White Sox. Two of those four hits have been home runs resulting in a 1.126 OPS against Gonzalez for the Yankees backstop. McCann has hit safely in six straight as well with three homers over that span. He’s starting to turn things around after a slow start at the dish and should be a good play tonight as long as the rain doesn’t become an issue in Chicago tonight.∗∗
Mid-range Option: Buster Posey-San Francisco Giants (3,200): Posey went 0-2 last night with a pair of walks putting up six fantasy points. He had at least nine fantasy points in eight of his last nine games and continues to be a good option despite his lack of protection in the lineup. Posey is a good play tonight since he is facing lefty Jorge De La Rosa. In his career, Posey is 10-26 against De Rosa with a homer and eight RBI, but he has been especially good against lefties in general this season entering tonight’s game with a .964 OPS against southpaws after going 27-86 against them through the first part of the season.∗∗∗
High-Value Option: Evan Gattis-Houston Astros (2,500): Gattis is available at a reduced price since he hasn’t had a hit in his last four games going 0-11 with a pair of walks. He should be in the lineup tonight, though, as the Astros face lefty Wade LeBlanc. Gattis is 2-3 with a homer and a double off LeBlanc in their past meetings and is hitting lefties (.784 OPS) better than righties (.651 OPS) this season. He hit just .216 in June, though, so he is becoming a homer-or-nothing hitter which makes him a boom-or-bust option most nights. Still, at this price, he’s worth a flier in a shallow catcher pool tonight.∗∗
Bargain Basement Bonus Option: Eric Fryer-Pittsburgh Pirates (2,100): With Francisco Cervelli and Chris Stewart both dealing with injuries, Fryer stepped in yesterday and went 2-4 with a double and three RBI for a total of 19.5 fantasy points. Fryer is now hitting a solid .381 on the season with three doubles and eight RBI.
He was just claimed by the Bucs from the Cardinals off of waivers. He’ll take o the Cardinals again tonight if he gets the start, and he’s worth a look if you need to save money since he has shown he is a much better offensive option than Erik Kratz right now.∗∗∗
