Third Baseman

High-Salary Option: Josh Donaldson-Toronto Blue Jays (4,200):  Donaldson came up huge for my FanDuel daily picks last night with a pair of homers and four runs scored for 46.8 fantasy points. He is a scalding 13-29 (.448) over the last week and 10-21 (.476) in July.  He has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 contests and has at least nine fantasy points in each of his last nine (even the game he went 0-6 in).

Tonight, he faces Ian Kennedy for the first time in his career as the Jays look to pound the Royals again.  He won’t have monster nights like last nights every game, but he is definitely the way to go if you are spending big at the hot corner given the way he has been pouring it on lately. ∗∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Evan Longoria-Tampa Bay Rays (3,400)Longoria has gone 7-26 (.269) over the past week and isn’t as hot as Donaldson. However, he does have a very good history against Jered Weaver who starts tonight for the Angels making him an interesting mid-range play.  Longoria has gone 6-23 against Weaver with three doubles and a home run.∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Kyle Seager-Seattle Mariners (3,200): Seager has gone 8-18 (.444) to start the month of July and carries an eight-game hitting streak into tonight’s game.  He has at least one extra-base hit in seven of those eight games and has a healthy .879 OPS for the season.  Tonight, he’ll take on Mike Fiers who he has gone 2-3 against with a double in the past, so look for him to stay producing good numbers tonight.∗∗

High-Value Option: Yangervis Solarte-San Diego Padres (2,800): Padres 3B Yangervis Solarte remains a nice value after going 1-4 with an RBI last night for 6.5 fantasy points.  He has hit safely in ten  of his last 11 games raising his average from .255 to .298. He has gone 8-18 over his first four games of July with a pair of home runs and four RBI over his last three games.  He has produced nice games on the road this year, but he is 0-7 in his career against Shelby Miller.  That could mean the switch-hitter is due or it could be a sign to stay away, but at this price there isn’t many better options on the board tonight. ∗∗

Bonus Bargain Basement Option: Cheslor Cuthbert-Kansas City Royals (2,200): Cuthbert went 2-4 last night with his eighth homer of the year and has now hit safely in each of his last seven starts.  He has at least six fantasy points in five of those games and usually finds a way to get involved in the Royals’ attack.  Tonight, he’ll take on Marcus Stroman and the Jays in what should be a high-scoring game, so take advantage of the reduced rate and get him in your lineup at 3B if the Royals give him another start at the hot corner.
