MLB All-Star Game 2016: 5 most likely MVP candidates
3. Kris Bryant
Another young star who appears primed to be one of the best players in the game for the foreseeable future, Kris Bryant is the National League starting third baseman and is one of seven Chicago Cubs’ players (five starters) to be selected the MLB All-Star Game this year.
In only his second MLB season, the 24-year-old Bryant is the likely National League MVP at the half-way point. He is hitting an impressive .279/.373/.575 on the season, including a MLB-leading 25 homeruns on the season.
His impact bat in the middle of the Cubs’ lineup has been an essential part of the team holding the best record in all of baseball.
On top of being a big-time power hitter in the middle of the Cubs’ line-up, Bryant has been a rock solid defensive player at third base and an above average defender in the outfield. Bryant has played 3B, LF, RF, 1B and even SS for the Cubs this season, while being arguably the best power hitter in all of baseball.
He is an incredibly valuable player whose 4.3 WAR (according to Fangraphs) is the best in the National League. A true superstar player who can impact a single game in many different ways, Kris Bryant is undoubtedly a big-time MLB All-Star Game MVP candidate.
