MLB All-Star Game 2016: 5 most likely MVP candidates
1. Mike Trout
Los Angeles Angels superstar outfielder Mike Trout is almost inarguably the single best player in baseball. Trout is an absolute offensive force who hits for power and contact, is one of the fastest players in the game and one of the best defensive center fielders in all of baseball.
Trout is always the best player on the field, and that has even remained true in recent MLB All-Star Game appearances. Trout won his first MLB All-Star Game MVP award in 2014 and backed that up with a repeat MVP performance in 2015.
That’s right, Trout became the first player in MLB history to win back-to-back ASG MVP awards, and he is undoubtedly going to be fighting hard for a three-peat.
Trout has continued his usual incredible play this season, as his .324/.426/.569 slash line makes him a premier offensive player and he continues to be an elite defender in center field.
Trout’s 169 wRC+ trails only Ortiz, making him the second-most productive offensive player in all of baseball. More importantly, his 5.2 WAR leads all players in baseball, making him the most valuable player in the game.
Mike Trout is an incredible player who consistently impacts the game in many different ways. Also, when the best in the game get together in the All-Star Game, Trout takes his game to an even higher level.
Expect Trout to make an impact and be a serious ASG MVP contender.
