In less than 24 hours, Pokemon GO has shot to the top of the U.S. app charts.

Released in the United States just before 9 p.m. ET, Pokemon fans proved they really “want to be the best like no one ever was” as Pokemon GO quickly climbed both the top download app and top grossing charts.

According to Venture Beat, it took just five hours for the game to skyrocket to the top of the most downloaded chart. Given the hype and anticipation that has surrounded the game leading up to its launch, its popularity is not surprising. It is the type of game the Pokemon fans could only dream of in the past, as its augmented reality gameplay uses the smartphone’s camera to make it appear as if the Pokemon are in the real world.

Most downloaded app is not the only chart that Pokemon GO top, the game is also the highest grossing app in the U.S. right now. The game reached this milestone at 10:30 a.m. Pacific time. In addition to topping the U.S. charts, Pokemon GO is the most downloaded and top grossing app in Australia and New Zealand, where the game launched on Tuesday. As the game continues to be released all over the world — this Canadian writer is still patiently waiting — Pokemon GO is sure to top even more charts.

What makes the feat even more impressive is that Pokemon GO has not been without its share of problems. Most alarmingly, as reported by Forbes, it seems like the game’s servers were not prepared for the large number of people who would be trying to log on at the same time. This led to many players being unable to log in, and instead were left to stare at this lovely image:

This is on top of the fact that the game has already proven to quickly eat both battery life and data. But Pokemon GO is working well enough for the game to reach the top of the charts, so hopefully the problems will soon be fixed and everybody can enjoy the game properly.
