1. Ken Griffey Jr.

The great Ken Griffey Jr. had a lot of accomplishments during his time in the MLB and on that list it includes being the only player ever to win the derby three times, including back to back victories in 1998 and 1999. Griffey is fourth on the list of all-time derby home runs with 70. He still holds the record for most appearances with 8.

Griffey sported a swing that was as pretty as a picture. If you were a lefty you tried to model your swing after his and if you were a righty, you wished you were lefty so you could do the same. Griffey hit 630 home runs in his career that led him to an almost unanimous decision into the Hall of Fame with 99.3 percent of the vote.

Griffey’s swing was made for the home run derby and it was almost unfair when he participated. While the hitters back then did not put up the numbers that hitters these days do, Griffey’s best round was in 1998 at Coors Field in Colorado where he hit 19.

Griffey will not only go down as one of the best pure hitters of all-time but he will go down as the best home run derby hitter ever.
