MLB All-Star Game: Five events that should be added
1. Skills Competition
Why not get all of these events together and take a page from the NHL? This would create the MLB All-Star Game Skills Competition, an ultimate event that would make the MLB All-Star Game much more exciting and fun, both for players and for fans.
More events would need to be created than the ones proposed in this slideshow. That’s fine. Baseball involves a variety of skill sets. It wouldn’t be difficult to think of more events that would allow those skill sets to be put on display. Each player on the final All-Star Game roster would have to participate in at least one event.
This would be made even more fun if baseball took a page from the NFL and allowed two “captains” to pick their teams from a pool of All-Stars. The winning team in the skills competition would get a donation to a charity of their choosing, ensuring that something good would come from the skills competition.
Players would embrace it because they would get to compete against each other and entertain fans, which is something that all players love to do. Fans would embrace it because they would get to see the best baseball players in the world compete against each other.
