MLB Trade Deadline: 5 trades the Braves should make
By Hunter Cooke
Erick Aybar should be dealt to the Orioles
Aybar is already drawing interest from around the MLB, somehow. Since being traded to the Braves, he’s been arguably one of the worst players in baseball, posting an abysmal .218/.272/.275 stat line this year. Aybar was originally brought in to stabilize the Brave’s infield until a replacement could be found, but now Aybar is the one who needs to be replaced. If the Braves are to be competitive, they can’t have this small of a bat in their lineup.
The Orioles have many enticing prospects on their roster, and if the Braves are looking for an infielder to revitalize their hitting, they could turn to Trey Mancini. Mancini has spent two years in minor league ball after spending four years with Notre Dame, and has done nothing but crush the cover off the ball with the AAA Norfolk Tides, batting .297 with an OBP of .368 and 10 home runs. Mancini isn’t an elite defender, but if the Braves are looking for a quick fix, I think Mancini could step up very quickly.
Next: Jim Johnson should be dealt to the Dodgers
