Pokemon GO: How to find and hatch Pokemon Eggs

facebooktwitterreddit

Don’t fret if you have few Pokemon around you, because finding and catching Pokemon Eggs is pretty simple.

In case you were wondering if Pokemon were born live or hatched from eggs, it’s the latter. At least it is in Pokemon GO, which is all anyone seems to care about at the moment.

Naturally, most of the fun in this super popular mobile game is going out and catching the Pokemon where they live, or at least where the GPS says they do. Failing that, you have another option, because Pokemon Eggs are abundant if you know where to look.

If you’ve played the game for more than a few minutes, you already know all about PokeStops. These are locations in Pokemon GO that correspond to real world landmarks, and appear on the map as small towers topped by a blue cube. Visiting a PokeStop (yes, that means traveling to it, which could mean walking) allows you to spin a disc there to receive free items.

Every so often, one of these items will be a Pokemon Egg. You can have up to nine Pokemon Eggs in your inventory at any given time. To hatch it, you’ll need an Egg Incubator; you get one when you begin playing, another at level 6 and can buy more using the in-game shop.

To incubate a Pokemon Egg, simply go to the Pokemon tab of your menu (tap once on the Pokeball at the bottom of the screen and again on the Pikachu icon), then swipe left to see your Eggs. The distance listed below each Pokemon Egg lets you know how far you’ll have to walk to get it to hatch.

Simply tap on an Egg, then tap an empty Incubator to get started. Pokemon GO eliminates the most obvious shortcut, because it can tell if you’re traveling fast enough to be in a car. Reportedly, slow skateboarding will work, but otherwise, you’ll have to hoof it.

Once you’ve reached the correct distance, you’ll automatically be prompted that the Pokemon Egg has hatched, assuming all is right with the servers. You’ll also be rewarded with Stardust and the proper Pokemon Candy, just as if you had captured that Pokemon in the wild.

Since at least a few PokeStops are near just about anyone, finding and hatching Pokemon Eggs is a great way to make up for a lack of wild Pokemon around your house or apartment. Try it and you’ll be growing you collection in no time.
