2. 1941 All-Star Game
A classic from the early days of the event, the 1941 All-Star Game was Ted Williams’ greatest moment at The Midsummer Classic as the greatest hitter of all-time provided one of his greatest moments under the spotlight.
In a 1941 season that is considered as one of the best seasons in baseball history, the All-Star Game lived up to the billing as an American League team led by Williams and Joe DiMaggio needed a dramatic ninth inning comeback with two outs. The National League went into the final inning with a 5-3 lead, but had allowed Williams to come to bat with two outs and two runners on base for a chance to win the game with a walk-off.
In a season where Williams batted .406, a three-run walk-off home run would give the AL the comeback win in a game that featured many of the best players to ever play the game, a lineup that featured Williams’ .406 average and DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak in a special season that had a fittingly special All-Star Game to top off a year that many feel is the best year in the game’s storied past.
