1. 1970 All-Star Game
In a game that featured Pete Rose’s most iconic moment in his career, the 1970 All-Star Game was also an extremely thrilling game on the scoreboard. It was a 12-inning affair that came to its apex in the final inning with Rose’s classic highlight ending the game with an epic walk-off win at the plate for the National League.
Coming back from three runs down in the ninth inning just to force extra innings, Rose would find himself charging towards home plate with the chance to cap off the comeback with a walk-off run in the 12th inning. Catcher Ray Fosse and the ball were waiting for Rose at home plate for the final out of the game.
In a display of hustle and heart, Rose opted to run right through Fosse to win the All-Star Game for the National League. Injuring himself and also injuring Fosse, Rose added to his legend with one of the greatest plays in the history of the All-Star Game.
This game proved how important the All-Star Game is to the players on the field and for that reason it is the greatest game of all 86 played. Rose’s hustle and willingness to put his body on the line to finish off the NL’s epic comeback providing untouchable drama that will never be topped.
