Top 10 MLB All-Star Games of all-time
By Chase Ruttig
7. 1967 All-Star Game
Another marathon extra innings game to appear on the list, the 1967 All-Star Game was a pitcher’s duel to end all pitcher’s duels as the AL and NL pitching staffs stole the show, embarrassing the All-Star batters at every turn in a game that featured some of the best pitching the All-Star Game has ever witnessed.
With names like Ferguson Jenkins, Catfish Hunter, Bob Gibson and Tom Seaver taking the mound there was little hope for offense in this game during the golden era of pitching. There were 30 strikeouts being thrown in a marathon game that was 1-1 until the 15th inning.
In the top half of the 15th, Hall of Famer Tony Perez would take Catfish Hunter deep to end a game that managed to have three solo home runs amidst the epic pitching performances that took place on the day.
This game might not have featured much offense to cheer for, but the power pitching that was on display throughout all 15 innings of this epic All-Star game makes it one of the best of all-time as it will be hard to repeat the pitching efforts that were on display in this game ever again.
