Madison Bumgarner-San Francisco Giants (11,900): Bumgarner didn’t participate in the Home Run Derby or the All Star game this week, but he closed the first half with a dominant 81-fantasy-point performance on Sunday striking out 14 and allowing just one hit against the D-Backs.

Overall, Bumgarner has been his usually stellar self so far this season averaging 45 fantasy points per start.  He enters tonight’s outing with 1.94 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP.  He has racked up 146 strikeouts in 129.2 innings.  He’ll be making his third start of the season against the Padres looking to improve to 3-0 over those three outings after allowing three runs in 15.2 innings (1.72 ERA) and striking out 20. He has had some issues at usually pitcher-friendly Petco Park in his career, but I think he’ll be dialed in to start the second half like he finished the first half as he takes the mound tonight. ∗∗∗∗

Stephen Strasburg-Washington Nationals (11,400): If you need to save a little bit of money or don’t trust MadBum on the road, check out Stephen Strasburg who will take the mound at home tonight against the Pirates.  At home this season, Strasburg has held opponents to a .195 batting average while striking out 73 in 61.1 innings.

Strasburg will be looking to improve to 13-0 on the season tonight, and he has looked the whole part of a true Ace.  In his two starts since a brief DL stint, he has gone 2-0 allowing one run on two hits in 13.2 innings and striking out 14 batters against the Reds and Mets. This will be the first time this season he faces the Pirates in the last two seasons.

Hector Santiago-Los Angeles Angels (8,500): Santiago is a solid upper-mid level play tonight as he and the Angels host the White Sox.  Santiago struggled early in the season but didn’t allow an earned run in either of his last two starts.  In fact, he has allowed one run of fewer in four of his last five starts, but the other start he gave up six runs which is why his ERA is still 4.58.

Santiago struck out nine in his last start before the break for a very impressive 60 fantasy points, and he’ll look to build on that start as he faces Chicago tonight. Santiago held the White Sox scoreless for seven innings in his start against them earlier this season while holding them to just two hits and striking out ten.  If he can come close to those numbers again tonight, he’ll be a great value.∗∗
