FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-July 15
Third Baseman
High-Salary Option: Josh Donaldson-Toronto Blue Jays (4,600): Donaldson is back by the Bay to face his old team as the Jays open up the second half against the Oakland. Donaldson hit four homers in his last nine games while posting at least 20 fantasy points in five of those nine contests. He’s another player from Toronto who gets a value boost with Rich Hill’s scratch, and he has thrived in the past two seasons whenever he has faced his former teammates. Donaldson started July a scalding 15-38 (.395) with those four homers, ten RBI, and 14 runs scored, and he makes a good play tonight since I think the Blue Jays will pile on the runs tonight in Oakland.∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Jake Lamb-Arizona Diamondbacks (3,500): Lamb didn’t get into the All Star game as the Final Vote winner, but he did have a great first half hitting .291 with a .983 OPS. He posted double-digit fantasy points in seven straight games before running into he Giants’ starting pitchers before the break. Tonight, he takes on the Dodgers at Chase Fieldand goes up against Bud Norris in what should be a pretty favorable matchup for the young left-handed slugger.∗∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Kyle Seager-Seattle Mariners (3,200): Seager had a nice 13 game hitting streak heading into the All Star break which included eight multi-hit performances. He had two hits in each of his last four games and six of his last seven before the layoff, and he’ll look to pick up where he left off against Doug Fister and the Astros tonight.
Seeger has started July 17-30 (.436) with a 1.322 OPS, and he is 5-16 (.313) with two doubles against Fister in his career. Look for the lefty to continue his recent roll in Seattle tonight even though his brother Corey probably passed him in name recognition after a nice All Star weekend.∗∗∗∗∗
Mid-Range Option: Maikel Franco-Philadelphia Phillies (3,000): Franco has hit safely in ten in a row as well coming into the second half and is a great option at the hot corner tonight at 3K. He hit five homers in the ten games before the break while going 18-40 (.450) with 11 RBI and 11 runs scored. The only reason he doesn’t get five stars for today’s matchup is that he is 0-8 in his career against Mets’ starter Bartolo Colon.∗∗∗∗
High-Value Option: Jose Reyes-New York Mets (2,800): The Mets reacquired Jose Reyes from the Rockies, and he has played well for them in six games so far this season. Reyes has at least 15 fantasy points in three of those contests and is hitting .250 with three homers in 24 at-bats.
Tonight, Reyes will face Jeremy Hellickson and the Phillies. In his career, Reyes is 8-21 (.381) with a double, home run, and four RBI against Hellickson, so look for him to be a strong play tonight as he continues to leadoff for New York.∗∗
