Hockey has many great traditions. One of them is eating out of and taking the Stanley Cup to various places. Here’s Sidney Crosby with the Stanley Cup at Tim Horton’s.

Sidney Crosby made a surprise trip to his hometown Friday with the Stanley Cup. The coffee shop was one of Crosby’s favorites as a kid, so he decided that he would pay them back with a little visit while dragging along the most prestigious trophy in hockey.

Crosby decided to pop by other places as well. He took the Cup to see the kids at his hockey camp and he hung out with the people at the Halifax airport in addition to the quick stop for coffee. Crosby also took along the Conn Smythe trophy, the award given to the Finals MVP.

As is tradition, every team member gets a little bit of time with the Stanley Cup, and it’s nice to see as high profile a guy as Sidney Crosby take the cup back to visit his hometown in Nova Scotia. According to reports, he also took photos with the entire staff of Tim Horton’s and with most of the customers.

It isn’t the first time Crosby brought the Cup back to Nova Scotia either. He brought it back in 2009 to see the thousands of cheering fans that lined the streets for a parade in his honor. Crosby has a reputation for being a bit of a crybaby, but with his skill set and how he gives back to his community, I think he’s okay with that.
