Shortstop

High-Salary Option: Jonathan Villar-Milwaukee Brewers (4,300): Villar has been on fire lately and has at least 12 fantasy points in each of his last six contests after putting up 21.7 fantasy points last night going 2-4 with an RBI, run scored, walk, and stolen base.  Villar has multiple hits in four of his last five games which has raised his average back up to .300.  He also has been running a ton with six stolen bases in his last six games. Tonight, he’ll face lefty John Lamb, and he is 29-91 (.319) with an .894 OPS against southpaws this year making him a great play if you can get his hefty salary onto your roster. ∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Aledmys Diaz-St. Louis Cardinals (3,800)Diaz picked up where he left off after a strong first half with two more hits and 12 fantasy points last night against the Marlins.  Diaz has at least nine fantasy points in seven of his last nine contests and is off to a strong start to July going 14-43 (.326) with three homers and eight RBI.  Tonight, he’s in a good matchup against Tom Koehler as the Cardinals look to bounce back from a tough home loss last night when the Marlins stormed back late to get the 7-6 victory. ∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Brandon Crawford-San Francisco Giants (3,300): Crawford has hit in six straight after going 1-3 with a double and a run scored last night in San Diego.  He has three doubles and a homer in his last four games which has helped his OPS to get over .800. Tonight he and the Giants lineup will take on Luis Perdomo who has been inconsistent for the Padres and comes into tonight with a 7.48 ERA.

Mid-Range Option: Tim Anderson-Chicago White Sox (3,100): Anderson went 0-3 last nigh to see his average dip back below .300 after his mini four-game hitting streak before the All Star break.  He should be back atop the White Sox lineup tonight as they look to bounce back from a 7-0 shutout loss last night.  Anderson will face Matt Shoemaker for the first time in his career, but his leadoff spot and solid average make him a boom-or-bust option tonight.

High-Value Option: Asdrubal Cabrera-New York Mets (2,500): Cabrera is again a solid cheap play after going 3-5 with a double and a run scored for 15.2 fantasy points for my FanDuel daily picks yesterday.  Cabrera is now 12-36 (.333) this month with four homers and five RBI. He is 3-5 against tonight’s Phillies’ starter Jerad Eickhoff with a double and a  1.400 OPS.  It’s a very small sample size, but he’s going well enough to definitely consider him at 2.5K.∗∗
