. National League. East. New York Mets. 2. player. 3

Entering the All-Star Break, the defending National League champs sit as the holders of one Wild Card spot and aren’t that far out of the race for the NL East title. All that could be changing pretty soon thanks to their starting rotation.

If Matt Harvey is indeed done for the season by choosing to have surgery, the Mets are going to be in extreme panic mode considering their other starters, including Steven Matz and Noah Syndergaard, are still recovering from all the innings thrown last year during their playoff run.

Some experts are going to say that the Mets shouldn’t worry about that and should just make minor moves. The problem with that is you aren’t going to replace Harvey with some Double-A pitcher. Chris Archer would become one of the most sought after players in the Big Apple and could be enough that the Rays could end up getting a king’s ransom in return for their best pitcher.

It would also solve the move of getting Archer away from the American League, which I can’t reiterate enough is a major deciding point for the Rays in whether or not to make a move.
