MLB Trade Deadline: 5 best spots for Chris Archer
By Jason Parker
This could finally be the year that the Chicago Cubs bring home a World Series title, something that hasn’t been done since Teddy Roosevelt was President and the year was 1908. If that’s going to happen, there will need to be some adjustments to the current roster…namely the starting rotation.
It’s not that the Cubbies are in a position where they are in need of desperate help (especially since they are currently seven games up in both the NL Central and in the Wild Card race). That being said, fans of the team and the front office remember last season when several starters faded toward the end of the regular season and in the playoffs.
Chicago will be looking for not just starting talent, but also bullpen help in order to make a complete run at that first title. It would be interesting and an almost “circle of life” moment if the Cubs, who traded Archer in a deal that involved getting Matt Garza from the Rays in 2011, had a reunion just in time to help them make history and end a drought over a century in the making.
