5. Tight End: Rob Gronkowski

Of all of the players chosen for this team, deciding the starting tight end was the easiest decision of them all. Greg Olsen is an incredibly talented tight end who undoubtedly deserves to be in the mix, but Rob Gronkowski is easily the best tight in the NFL.

Add in the idea of Belichick, McDaniels and Brady already on the team, and Gronkowski as the Team USA tight end is a slam dunk decision.

Gronk is arguably the biggest match-up nightmare in the entire NFL. He is a 6-foot-6, 265-pound beast who is as strong as an ox and run likes a gazelle. Gronkowski is far too big and strong to be defended by a defensive back and way too fast and athletic to be covered by a linebacker.

Opposing defenses are forced to put two or three defenders on Gronkowski, opening up incredible one-on-one chances for his teammates. Think about what that could mean on this incredibly talented offense.

With Gronkowski in the middle, Brady could easily be choosing between, Julio Jones against one defender on the outside and Antonio Brown against one guy over the middle. He literally could not lose there.

Gronkowski’s ability as a receiving tight end is elite, but he is also the best run blocking tight end in the entire NFL. This guy can do it all, and is the perfect choice to line up at tight end for Team USA.
