Chris Paul gave Kevin Durant free agency advice before joining Warriors

Chris Paul gave Kevin Durant free agency advice before he made his decision.

As we all know by now, Kevin Durant will be suiting up for the Golden State Warriors for the 2016-17 season. This came after Durant spent nine total years with the franchise, one being in Seattle, and many felt that he would return to the Thunder.

As an unrestricted free agent is allowed to do, he got to choose the team he wanted to play for. Though, by him choosing the Golden State Warriors some feel that the free agency rules need to be reworked after another super team was formed.

With any big decision, players seek advice. This was no different for Kevin Durant and his free agency decision.

Chris Paul of the rival Los Angeles Clippers apparently gave Kevin Durant advice before he made his decision to join the Golden State Warriors. With regards to to Kevin Durant’s free agency decision, Paul said, “I remember I told KD, ‘man this is one of the only times in your career where you get to pick and choose where you want to play and where you want to live. Enjoy it.’ His decision, it is what it is. I’m happy for him.”

Paul seems to be on the side of people who believe that as a free agent you’re free to go wherever you want and that you shouldn’t worry about how your decision will be perceived. Though, the ironic thing is that Paul’s advice to Kevin Durant might have played a factor in Durant choosing Golden State over Oklahoma City and even Paul’s own team, the Los Angeles Clippers.
